In 2009, alumni from Camp Laurelwood began assembling the reminiscences of former campers, counselors, and staff members for inclusion in Fun, Friends, Forever: 75 Years of Camp Laurelwood Memories the “Official” Coffee Table Book.
The 160-page book that Picturia Press designed for them commemorates the 75th anniversary of Camp Laurelwood, a Jewish co-ed residential summer camp–for 7 to 15 year olds–located in North Madison, Conn. All revenue from the book (after production, marketing, and distribution costs) will benefit the Camp Laurelwood Scholarship Fund. It will publish in time for the start of Camp Laurelwood’s 75th Anniversary Season in June 2012.
Incorporated in 1937, Camp Laurelwood is the only Jewish “overnight” camp in Connecticut. It enjoys the support of the community with an active board of directors, volunteers, parent and alumni networks, synagogues, Jewish federations, foundations, and Jewish Community Centers, that recognize the role the camp plays in building and strengthening Jewish identity at an early age.
It was a real pleasure to work with Stuart Katz and Dan Smolen on this project. Because we believe in the value Camp Laurelwood offers children, Picturia Press offered to provide our services to “Camp Laurelwoodies”, and have committed to donate a portion of our fee to the Camp Laurelwood Scholarship Fund.
