Angkor Wat | Infrared

This is the fourth coffee table book we’ve designed for German photographer, Hellmut Issels.  The images appearing in this book were shot with an infrared camera in the larger temple area of the Angkor Wat complex in Cambodia, as well as the temples of Angkor Thom and Bayon. Hellmut selected infared to shoot these temples because of the unique “dreamlike appearance” that is achieved with the lush foliage and cloudy skies surrounding the temples. Angkor Wat is a temple complex built in the early 12th century and remains a significant religious center in Cambodia. Initially a site for Hindu worship, it is now primarily Buddhist. It is the world’s largest religious building and the temple complex is admired for its grandeur and harmony of the architecture.
